Tibbitts at Fern Hill was named to the Yelp Elite Squad’s 100-best brunch restaurants in April 2025.
A Tacoma brunch restaurant was named one of the country’s “best” by Yelp Elites, a group of users of the online review platform who share frequent — and mixed — recaps of their experiences at eateries in their local community.
Tibbitts at Fern Hill, 8237 Park Ave. S., represents Washington state on the list. It’s been selected for the same brunch round-up several times in past years.
The brief entry describes the South End spot, which is open four days a week and reservations are required only by phone, as a place for “brunch fare that is far from ordinary.” Popular dishes include a bread-pudding French toast, and guests often comment on the “cozy” atmosphere.
To determine the list, which includes one restaurant in each state plus the District of Columbia, Yelp reviews businesses categorized as “breakfast” or “brunch.” It then “ranked those spots based on the volume and ratings of reviews given by Yelp Elite Squad members.”
The ranking was completed in early March, but the list was revealed in April.
Yelp developed its “Elite” recognition in 2005 as one approach of managing a flow of low-quality reviews, instead highlighting those who “have gone above and beyond to support and share their experiences with businesses,” according to the company. Many of these reviewers submit more than 1,000 entries every year.
