Nearly Ten Years of Feeding, Building and Showing Up

This captioned visual archive documents the people, meals, volunteers, collaborations, public events and everyday kitchen work connected to Tibbitts @ Fern Hill and Chef Shawn Tibbitts.

The photographs below show how a 25-seat Tacoma restaurant has reached beyond its dining room: preparing free holiday meals, packing food and supplies, working beside volunteers, supporting families, participating in civic and cultural programs, and sharing food at public events.

Every Image Carries Context

Each photograph is presented with a caption identifying the people, food, event or community work shown. Together, the images create a visual record rather than a collection of decoration.

The gallery includes celebration and difficult work side by side: volunteers preparing large batches of food, tables becoming packing lines, meals being boxed, supplies being gathered, chefs collaborating, and community members showing up for one another.

Food Moving Back Into the Community

Support that comes through the restaurant helps the work move back into the community. The purpose is straightforward: feed people, protect their dignity, and make sure they know they have not been forgotten.

The restaurant is small by design, but the work documented here has always extended beyond its 25 seats. These images preserve the meals, people, partnerships, memories and years of showing up.
